Please read the following Terms & Conditions carefully before booking. Participation in activities organised by T1 Mountain Guides is subject to the acceptance of these terms.
It is strongly recommended that all clients obtain personal accident and cancellation insurance prior to the commencement of their activity.
1. Statement of Risk
1.1 – The British Mountaineering Council Participation Statement states:
“The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.”
1.2 – T1 Mountain Guides reserves the right to cancel, modify or curtail any activity at its sole discretion if it believes the risk to participants or staff is unacceptable.
2. Physical fitness and ability
2.1 – Clients are responsible for ensuring that they (or the individuals they are booking for) possess a suitable level of fitness, mobility, and confidence to safely participate in the chosen activity.
2.2 – T1 Mountain Guides reserves the right to cancel or modify any booking if a participant's physical condition, as assessed by the instructor, may place themselves, others, or staff at risk. Clients are encouraged to discuss any concerns in advance and on the day with the instructor.
3. Client Responsibility
3.1 – Clients will receive a detailed event itinerary and kit list prior to the activity.
3.2 – Clients must arrive adequately equipped. T1 Mountain Guides reserves the right to exclude any client from the activity without refund if they do not meet the kit requirements to the satisfaction of the guide.
3.3 – T1 Mountain Guides’ responsibility for clients begins and ends at the designated meeting point for each individual mountain leg. For multi-leg events, such as the National Three Peaks Challenge, this means our duty of care applies only during the guided mountain stages, and not during transit between mountains.
3.4 – Although T1 Mountain Guides may assist in arranging or providing transport between mountain locations, clients acknowledge that they remain responsible for themselves during transit. T1 Mountain Guides does not accept any liability for clients while travelling, whether in vehicles operated by third-party providers, hired vehicles, or vehicles driven by T1 personnel.
3.5 – Clients are responsible for arriving at the designated meeting points at the scheduled times. Failure to arrive punctually may result in exclusion from that stage of the activity, with no entitlement to a refund or compensation.
3.6 – No reimbursement will be provided for missed connections, travel delays, or associated personal costs.
3.7 – T1 Mountain Guides operates a strict zero-tolerance policy on the use of alcohol and illegal drugs before or during any activity. Any client suspected of being under the influence will be immediately excluded from the activity on safety grounds. No refund or compensation will be given. Prescription medications that may impair judgment or physical ability must be declared in advance.
3.8 – Group Conduct and Safety:
Clients are expected to behave respectfully and responsibly at all times, cooperating fully with guides and other participants. Any behaviour deemed by the guide to be disruptive, unsafe, or detrimental to the group’s welfare may result in immediate exclusion from the activity, with no entitlement to refund. The safety of all participants is paramount, and clients must comply with all safety instructions given by T1 Mountain Guides’ staff.
3.9 – Environmental Responsibility (Leave No Trace):
Clients must respect the natural environment by following Leave No Trace principles at all times. This includes minimising waste, avoiding damage to vegetation and wildlife, staying on established paths where possible, and taking all litter and belongings with them. Failure to adhere to these principles may result in exclusion from the activity.
4. Data Protection
4.1 – Personal data provided to T1 Mountain Guides will be securely stored and used solely for communications related to bookings and participation in our activities.
4.2 – Your information will not be shared with third parties without your explicit consent, except where necessary for operational or legal purposes.
4.3 – We do not sell or trade personal contact details.
4.4 – Photographs may occasionally be taken during activities for use in T1 Mountain Guides' marketing, including our website and social media platforms. If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform us in writing before the activity.
5. Itinerary Changes
5.1 – All activities are subject to change due to environmental, safety, or logistical factors.
5.2 – Routes, objectives, or itineraries may be altered before or during the activity due to weather conditions, participant ability, accidents, or other unforeseen events.
5.3 – Safety is our primary concern, and the guiding team will always aim to deliver the advertised experience as faithfully as possible, within safe and reasonable limits.
5.4 – The instructor's decision is final in all matters related to the safety and conduct of the activity.
5.5 – No refunds will be provided for alterations to the itinerary before or during the activity.

6.3 – For bookings with a total value of more than £305, a non-refundable deposit of 40% of the total fee is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance must be paid no later than 21 days (3 weeks) before the scheduled start of the activity.
6.4 – If full payment is not received by the stated deadline, T1 Mountain Guides reserves the right to cancel the booking and retain the deposit. No refunds or credits will be issued for missed or late payments unless otherwise agreed in writing.
